Canada | Study in Canada | PNP for international students in Nova Scotia

Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) nominates eligible individuals who have the skills and experience required by Nova Scotia.

International Students who have studied in Nova Scotia can gain permanent residency through the following streams through NSNP.

  • Skilled Worker
  • Nova Scotia Experience: Express Entry
  • International Graduate Entrepreneur

Skilled Worker

This stream helps employers hire foreign workers and recently graduated foreign students whose skills are required in the province.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible to apply under this stream the applicants must meet the following requirements.

AgeBetween 21 and 55 years of age
Work ExperienceMust have one year of minimum work experience related to your job.
EducationAt least a high school diploma
Language ability1. Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Level 5
2. For High-Skilled Workers, if their first language is English or French then it is enough proof
3. Semi and Low-Skilled workers must meet minimum CLB Level 4, despite their first language is English or French.
Settlement FundsMaintain sufficient funds to settle in the province successfully.

Nova Scotia Experience: Express Entry

This stream is for highly skilled applicants who want to live in Nova Scotia permanently. As the name of the stream indicates, candidates must have

  1. Minimum one year experience in Nova Scotia.
  2. Their profiles created in the Express Entry system of the IRCC.

This stream is suitable for foreign students who have graduated from Nova Scotia and gained one year experience while working on a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP)

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible to apply under this stream the applicants must meet the following requirements.

Work ExperienceMinimum one year of work experience in a high skilled occupation in Nova Scotia.
AgeAt least 21 years of age.(Maximum 55 years of age)
Education1. Minimum Canadian High school diploma or it’s equivalent.
2. Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) is required for credentials earned outside of Canada.
Language ability1. Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Level 7  for all NOC O or A level occupations(FSWP and CEC)
2. Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Level 5 for NOC B level occupations(CEC)
Express Entry registrationCreate a profile in the Express Entry pool and meet all other requirements set by the IRCC.

International Graduate Entrepreneur

The International Graduate Entrepreneur Stream is meant for recent graduates of a Nova Scotia university or a Nova Scotia Community College. They should already have started or purchased and run a Nova Scotia business for a minimum of one year.

These graduates will be nominated for permanent resident status if they intend to live in Nova Scotia. Application to the stream is rendered only by invitation.

FactorRequirement
Work Experience1. At least one year of experience in actively managing and owning the business in Nova Scotia. This experience should be continuous.
2. One third or 33.33% ownership in the business by the applicant.
EducationFull-time Degree or diploma of 2 years length at least at a university in Nova Scotia or Nova Scotia Community College. Studies must have been completed in-person.
Language abilityCanadian Language Benchmark (CLB) Level 7   
OthersSubmit Expression of Interest –on line. Then you may receive the ITA from NS , if you meet the criteria.
