Canada | PR Visa | PNP | Ontario PNP Draw: 484 candidates received invitations


Ontario held its first PNP draw of the year on January 13, 2021. In this draw, Ontario issued 484 Notification of Interests (NOI) to French-Speaking Skilled Worker and Skilled Trades Candidates.

French-Speaking Skilled worker category candidates have received 146 invitations. They had a CRS score range between 456 and 467. Skilled trades’ candidates have received 338 invitations in this draw. They had a CRS score range between 434 and 460.

French-Speaking Skilled Worker Program

This program is meant for the Express Entry candidates who can speak English and French. In order to be eligible to receive an invitation, Candidates must

  1. have their profiles launched in the Express Entry System. They need to have at least one year of continuous paid work experience if they have applied under the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP). If they have applied under Canadian Experience Class (CEC), they must have at least one year of Cumulative (need not to be continuous) paid work experience within the last 3 years in Canada.
  2. be a graduate or Post-Graduate or PhD degree holder in Canada or its Equivalent qualifications, if they have studied in another country.
  3. demonstrate French language skills at Comprehensive Language Benchmark (CLB) at level 7 or more as well as English language skills at CLB Level 6 or more.
  4. show that they have enough funds to support themselves and their family.
  5. intend to live in Ontario after they are granted PR.
  6. have legal status in Canada if they are applying within from Canada.

Skilled Trades

It is one of the streams under OINP. In order to be eligible,

  1. Candidates must have their profiles in Express Entry.
  2. They need to have at least one-year full time or its equivalent part-time cumulative paid work experience in Canada. Experience must be in a skilled trade, i.e. NOC codes listed under Minor group 633 or Major Group 72, 73 or 82.
  3. While submitting the application, the candidates need to show valid certificate or licence, if applicable.
  4. At the time of application submission, they must be currently living in Ontario with a valid work permit.
  5. Further, they need to demonstrate either English or French language skills at CLB level 5 or more.
  6. They should have enough funds to cover themselves and their family when they settle in Canada.
  7. Candidates must show their intention to live in Ontario after they receive PR.

Application fee for the above two OINP streams is CAD 1500. Candidates who received NOI’s, have 45 days’ time to submit the application.
