The two ministers of Canada Mr Marco Mendicino and Mr Navdeep Singh Bains who recently wrote about the contribution of Immigration to the economy of the country stated that the progressive immigration policies that Canada continues to follow lay the Groundwork for the prosperity of Canada in the 21st century.
Marco Mendicino , whose family arrived in Pier 21 from Italy after the second world war, is Canada’s Minister of Immigration while Bains whose family came from India is the Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry.
Today the ministers represent two of the countless success stories of immigrants across Canada as they oversee portfolios that are critical to the economic development of the country.
Mendicino and Bains in their article address that while starting out as new immigrants in Canada can be daunting at first, the nation gives newcomers many opportunities to succeed, which in the process, enriches Canada.
Today, the two ministers are responsible for implementing policies that help continue the positive immigration cycle in Canada: Canada provides opportunities for immigrants, and immigrants are paying back economically and socially for Canada.
Both ministers share the mandate of attracting immigrants, foreign workers and students from around the world.
The government launched the Global Talent Stream in 2017 in support of this mandate that not only has created thousands of jobs but also attracted more tech workers to Canada.
Following the good year it had in 2019, Canada was expected to welcome more global talent 2020.
Earlier this year, Mendicino revealed the latest Immigration Levels Program for Canada which will promote higher levels of attractiveness for immigrants. These plans have been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, but Mendicino has repeatedly confirmed and stressed that immigration remains a Canadian priority in their recent article.
Mendicino and Bains wrote that they knew that they must remain focused on attracting top-level talent to Canada, Furthermore, there are also draws for Express Entry and Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). Express Entry is currently off to its fastest start since 2017.
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) expect an increase of more global talent coming to Canada after the pandemic has ended.
