Canada | Immigration | Updates of IELTS and CELPIP to Canadian immigrants

In recent weeks, IELTS and CELPIP have increased their operations significantly, as countries around the world have lifted restrictions on coronavirus.

Individuals who are trying to complete an English language exam to help them obtain a permanent resident Canadian visa can now find further IELTS and CELPIP test dates.

For individuals who wish to request an Express Entry Profile or gain permanent residence via other federal or provincial sources, such as the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), the Government of Canada recognizes either the IELTS General Training or CELPIP.

It has been difficult for immigration candidates since March to complete this important move, because IELTS and CELPIP operators have complied with government regulations around the world. Governments in Canada and abroad have mandated, as part of global COVID-19 containment measures, that non-essential services stop their operations.

Governments across Canada and around the world have eased these restrictions in recent weeks which benefit IELTS and CELPIP test takers.

Benefits of filing your immigration request now

Completing an IELTS or CELPIP was the last major obstacle for many individuals who in recent months had wanted to submit an Express Entry Profile or an immigration application.

Once you've completed your test, completing the submission process as quickly as possible is in your best interests.

If you're outside Canada, you can get a provincial nomination that will essentially guarantee you'll eventually obtain permanent residency.

Several provinces have held regular PNP drawings since mid-March, and have issued provincial nominations to candidates outside of Canada.

Furthermore, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will eventually hold draws for candidates for the Federal Skilled Worker Program and the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and it is to the benefit of a candidate to be in the Express Entry pool when this resumes.

If you are inside Canada, within days of submitting your profile, you have the opportunity to gain an invitation to apply for permanent residence under Express Entry.

In recent months, Express Entry draws have focused on candidates for the Canadian Experience Class and PNP, and cut-off scores have since fallen to the lowest level since 2017.
