Over the past few weeks, Canada's provincial nominee programs (PNPs) have been active, with invitation rounds being held in most provinces across Canada.
Altogether, since the beginning of May, the provinces have issued over 2000 invitations to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residence.
Many of the invitations have been issued through “enhanced” nomination streams that allow provinces to nominate candidates in the Express Entry system

Alberta considers provincial candidates only if they already live and work in the province, as coronavirus continues to pose an imminent public health risk and impact immigration applications. The province does, however, offer some flexibility to PNP candidates who are unable to submit all documents because of service disruptions caused by the pandemic.
